After being under the beautiful weather in Elephant Butte State Park (besides our last lesson learned) we decided to go up north. We always try to be one or two weeks ahead the 100 degrees coming. So our next choice is Navajo Lake State Park. The second largest lake in New Mexico where you can boating, fishing, hiking and camping.

Cottonwood Campground

Cottonwood Campground is located in the Navajo Lake State Park but directly on the San Jan River. Wether it’s rainbow trout, brown trout, pike, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappie, catfish or carp, Navajo Lake State Park is truly an angler’s paradise featuring both river and lake fishing.

Severals site were rented by fishermen leaving early morning and some of them were coming back with a fresh dinner.

For us, each walk with Brix besides the San Juan River became the discovery of animals of this region. The perfect place to live in harmony with nature.

The Best Burger in New Mexico

As you probably have noticed, Ben loves burgers. In each place that we have been, he tried a burger. He decided to try the Popper, which is a burger with fried onions and jalapenos with creme cheese, cheddar cheese and bacon.

He was so impressed by the taste, he took the same burger the second time that we have been to the Patio. So if you are a burger fan, try the Popper or the New Mexico Burger  with green chili, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, pickle and onion. You won’t regret it!

On my side, I had Ceasar with chicken, fresh, juicy and having a lot of grated parmesan! As a lemonade fan, I can tell you the lemonade is very good and thirst-quenching! My second try was the chicken basket and I was so hungry that I totally forgot to take picture of it! Sorry! lol

The Patio Terrace

Navajo Marina means fun for all family:

  • Rentals: paddle boards, kayaks, aqua-cycles, slip & buoy
  • Other rentals: Floating lodging, boat, houseboat (sleeps 10)
  • Marina Store
  • Marina Café (The Patio Restaurant a must go!)

All families are coming to enjoy the lake for nautical sports or fishing. Even if the lake was about 55 feet higher about 6 years ago, lot of people are coming here to have fun with their families.

A magnificent dock with spaces for your yacht and your furniture for seasonal clients is available.
