We got a chance to go visit a high alpine lake (elevation approximative 8848 feet or 2700 m and 3,907 mi2 / 101 m2). This 6 mile long and 1 mile wide is in a graben valley and is bounded by Fish Lake Hightop Plateau where summit elevation is 11,600 ft / 3,500m. Here is Fish Lake located in the Fishlake National Forest.

The gem of Utah

With its 29 developed campgrounds and 9 undeveloped campgrounds, camping is allowed throughout the forest. Unless otherwise noted by Special Order. From fishing,  to non-morotized, ATV to horseback riding!

Fish Lake is stocked by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources fish hatchery in Glenwood. You might catch rainbow trout, splake, lake trout, lokanee salmon, brown trout, tiger trout and yellow perch.

Considered by many to be the the gem of Utah. This National Forest in central Utah, the region receives heavy snowfal in the winter, with snowfall occuring as late as June in any given year. This is the reason why tourist activity hits its peak during summer months.

You can look for RV Park rentals or rent a cabin at Fish Lake here.

OHV Riding & Camping

What is an OHV? Off-Highway Vehicle is a type of vehicule designed specifically for Off-Road use. Some can be driven on the road, but the vast majority of drivers reserve their OHV for trails and places that regular vehicles cannot go.

Fishlake National Forest is one of the most beautiful area for those vehicule in Utah. Lots of OHV owners are also owners of motorhome or fiftwheel or trailer.

We have been for few weeks in Marysvale Utah. The Paiute Trail  is right here wating  for you with its 1500 miles of  trails! We have been at Rocky Ridge Resort and also at South Forty RV Park where those beautiful sunsets were taken. Both places are offering nice spots, near of the Paiute Trail. Make your reservation and start create endless memories.

You would be surprosed to know how long people have lived at Fish Lake!

Paleo-Indians 12,000 – 8,500 years ago
Archaic People 8,500 – 2,000 years ago
Fremont People 2,000 – 700 years ago
Ute Indians 700 years ago to present

Two of the oldest spear points discovered in Utah were found in this area. One of these weapons, covered with the blood residue of a bobcat or cougar, may date back to 9,000 years ago. This place Native Americans at the lake when woolly mammoths and giant bison roamed Utah.

With your help, the children of today and tomorrow can know and experience the human history of the Fish Lake area.
